I was nothing short of disappointed when I saw the price of Mod Podge. $6 for a little tub smaller than the size of a tall Starbucks (my new measurement system). I didn't have that kind of dinero for my silly project so I decided to go with mixing 1 part water to 1 part school glue and shaking it up in a container. This was much cheaper and worked like a charm.
I purchased scrapbook paper and .17 cent tiles for Home Depot and got to crafting!
I secured the paper on my applying my homemade Mod Podge to the back of the paper and pressing it onto the tiles. I let it dry and then applied about 5 coats of Mod Podge onto the top of the paper, letting it dry in between applications. Once I was done and they were dry to the touch, I used clear glossy spray paint to seal them and make them look pretty.
The last step was cutting out squares of felt and securing them to the bottom of the tile with a spray adhesive. That was that! My new coasters were complete. More Mod Podge to come...

Those are so cute! I love your blue shoes! I've pinned the mod podge replica, but haven't put it to use yet, good to know it has good reviews though.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I am not a personal king of crafts my house is castle craft. The week before Halloween was particularly busy, with friends of the grandkids as well. But, it all worked out great and a successful Halloween was had by all.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I love Mod Podge. It's the best invention ever. Although it is super expensive, I enjoy seeing your finished project & how you got innovative and made it :D
